The Stockade Association is committed to protecting, preserving and improving New York's first registered historic district.

Our organization is comprised of property owners, residents, and non-residents. Our role in the community includes organizing events, representing the neighborhood to the city government, and welcoming visitors to our historic home.

Since 1661

Spanning 82 acres on the Mohawk River, The Stockade is Schenectady, New York’s oldest neighborhood. It has been continuously inhabited for more than 300 years. The National Park Service has described it as "the highest concentration of historic period homes in the country," including 40 pre-Revolutionary homes. The Stockade features architectural styles including Dutch Colonial, Georgian, Federal and Victorian.
